And your appreciation for canned tomato soup resonated with me, reminding me of being told that this or that bakery produces an exceptional and different and elevated black-and-white. To which I will always say, "Black-and-whites aren't supposed to be exceptional or different or elevated. They're supposed to be black-and-whites."

The Beecher’s Handmade Cheese folks published a cookbook in 2007 called Pure Flavor. It has a Tomato-Cheddar Soup recipe that is so, so good. Simple and delish!
